Update: Food Network says 'subliminal message'

I posted Sunday night about a McDonald's ad flashing for a few seconds during Iron Chef America. The AP reports that the McDonald's logo that flashed on the screen was:
a technical error on our part and not a subliminal message as suggested by a Web site running the slow-motion playback," said Food Network spokesman Mark O'Connor.
This is being discussed all over the web!

Do you buy it? Do you think it was a technical glitch or subliminal advertising?

Really like your blog, but to answer the question I think it was probably a mistake. The Food Network has to much going for it right now to tempt sucess. Speaking of success if you want to see a really great food, wine, cheese, and chocolate blog check this one out. It's updated almost daily and has some really great reviews including video.

meant "too" much going for it, sorry typo.

No, I have seen in in February, probably within the last week up in the left hand corner of the screen, sitting there for a couple of seconds.

Don't you think a subliminal ad for Mickey Ds might be lost on Iron Chef afficionados?

In my opinion, it was probably a mistake. There is so much advertising for mcd's already that it would even be silly to think that subliminal advertising is necessary. The Food Network too I agree with dr. brightside, has too much going for it. Do you have a fascination for the food network? I work with Bon Appetit and we’re running a sweepstakes where a lucky food fan will win a trip to NY, have lunch with the Bon Appetit editors in their culinary studio and tour the Food Network Studios. Now you can see yourself what really happens infront of and behind the camera! Is it all subliminal, or is it really good food? :) Enter at http://condenast.eprize.net/bonappetit/index.tbapp?affiliate_id=1i
Good luck and Bon Appetit!

I ran across your blog, too, and I hope you keep posting! I LOVE Food Network and would probably waste my life away in my couch if I didn't have a baby to take care of. :)

i was watching “Unwrapped” On August 27th at 9:30, about hamburgers, and i saw ANOTHER subliminal ad for “Tide to go” in between a “Best Buy” commercial and the return to the show at around the 22 minute mark. It was really short and it said “Tide to the rescue”, and had a picture of a hand holding “tide to go”. Just look for an orange flash on the screen.

I don't know if it was a subliminal message or not. Nor do I care. Truthfully, why shouldn't McDonalds jump on the marketing bonanza of the Food Network. A network that touts creative cooking and culinary ideas, when, in fact, it's become nothing but a vehicle for celebrity cooks to hawk pots and pans, toothpaste, and encourage two no talent adult sons to hang onto momma's coattails. Frankly, I'm tired of it. I live in Manhattan and just yesterday, I walked by Bolo: Bobby Flay's restaurant. It was closed, for good. So Bobby, instead of a throw down, why'd this one go down? I, for one, vow to stick to PBS and the other cables stations that offer what the Food Network once did. Am I mad? Damn right I am. I demand better. I know you have the talent, so cook! create! and educate! I mean really. And I know the camera puts about ten pounds on you, but the ever-expanding sizes of some of you stars, perhaps you oughta' stop riding in all those limos and try walking to work. Sandra Lee not withstanding. Because semi-homemade never looked so elegant. Well, you asked for comments.

Wow. I "happened by this blog" too - must have been a subliminal message you sent *grin*

Actually, I googled Food Network because I saw something about the Dinner Impossible Chef and was curious.

I'm going to take a look about though...if you don't mind.

Not a Big conspiracy theorist. Generally the simplest reason is the correct one. But ................Why would the last images of a standard commercial be floating around unattached an inserted in a show?

IS TYLER FLORENCE DONE ?
IS TYLER FLORENCE DONE ?
IS TYLER FLORENCE DONE ?
IS TYLER FLORENCE DONE ?......................NO !!!!!!
